ITB is designed to be sandbox with occasional GM'ed events. That means that most of the time, you'll have to find RP for yourself, explore your own plot arcs and not depend on me to find something to do. Also means that group events will happen once in a while. If you find nothing to do on Regina, feel free to skip over the three day of vacation and get on the skyplex where there is a small crowd potentially available for cross-ship RP.

I've suggested a plot here to get the crew involved in fleshing it out. The input and interest that it received is so minimal that I feel no drive to get it going. Fleshing out that plot would help me give the ship it's one year anniversary event.

Hi Kanada.

We're a very laid back bunch, with  just enough crazy to make it fun. You'll see that well enough on discord, I'm sure. :D

There's two ways to go about creating a character for a ship. Either you write one up, start it in the skyplex and see if any ship suits best for your character and wants to hire them or you can simply talk to the ship leader, or me, to know if the spot has been taken.

The ship leaders and I are the people who will review your character. In the case of the Gryphon, it's arkhos. I've given him a poke, but as soon a I have his feed back, I'll let you know.

Okay, so the board has been around is August last year. Most ships are doing well but the Oasis seems to be ignored but for Arkhos and I. I will remove it, and replace it with a different kind of ship.

During a talk between Seth and Dalila, the two characters of the Oasis, Dalila says that she'd like to head a companion school/training facility in space. She would also like to give girls from less fortunate background to rise and it got me thinking that it could be what I would turn the Oasis ship spot into.

Concept:
  • Home in space, with multiple shuttles available for fully trained companion who are also teachers.
  • Ship would hover around the core world, so the companions and apprentices have access to clients.
  • She would be geared toward teaching, but also toward entertaining clients
  • Apprentices would be at the end of their training, going through a mix of last classes and occasional clients to test them.
  • Apprentices who need to be tutored in something specific would be sent to that school.

Ship Information / Info Gryphon

The Gryphon is a heavily modified civilian 'tug' craft, based off the CSPA-13 model used in many large-scale space ports. The ship is used to push/pull/move larger ships in crowded places and docks where the larger ship's maneuvering thrusters are not adequate to allow for precise movement.

Built like a tank, this ship can withstand massive amounts of damage, made purposely this way in order to endure and survive accidental collisions with ships of various sizes during day-to-day operations. Being a tug-ship, this model is not normally outfitted with a pulse drive or weaponry. The thrusters used on this ship are indutrial grade, made in order to give the ship the ability to push around masses many times its own weight.

The Gryphon, however, has received numerous modifications:

1) A pulse-drive was installed to give the ship the ability to fly between systems at the same speeds as traditional cargo ships. While not super-fast, such travel would not be possible at all without the pulse drive.

2) Industrial level harpoon guns (affectionately called the 'Gryphon's claws' by some of the crew). These dual-pronged 'weapons' fire powerful, tritanium-tipped harpoons out to a hundred meters, trailing a thick, carbon-based cable attached to the Grypon itself. Used to latch the ship to another - by force. These are mounted underneath each of the port and starboard forward pylons on either side of the cockpit. Once the harpoons are hooked, the winches on the Grypon begin to reel in the cable, causing the Gryphon and its prey to close in on one another.

3) Industrial strength arc-welders. Able to cut through most materials in quick order, these welders are used in ship construction in shipyards across the 'verse. So it only stands to reason they can be used for ship -DE-construction, if necessary. They have a -very- short range (10 meters maximum), and are usually employed after the Gryphon has latched-on to its prey and reeled it in. If the ship does not allow boarding, these welders can cut a hole in the prey's hull in short order.

4) The inside of the ship has been refitted in order to serve a larger crew than normal. While the base model is set-up to house up to four people, the Gryphon has been modified to house up to eight. Compartments that were formerly used for tools, parts, and equipment storage have been converted into other necessary functions, such as a galley, infirmary, and of course security containment for up to five individuals.

Hi folks!

During the weekend, the forum should change address from firefly.rpforum.ca to firefly.rpforum.ca. There will be a redirect in place for a time, but I suggest that you upgrade your bookmarks as soon as you see it happening.

The forum isn't moving, it isn't a physical migration of the code. It's really just me abandoning the domain creationcorner.net eventually. When I picked the name over a decade ago, I had plans to blog about knitting and crochet as well as post my self-published stories and so on. Since then, I've discovered that I can't blog worth crap; I lose interest after 3-4 posts. I haven't self-published yet and I've been the admin of about 10 forums, only a third of which ever ended up being more than only me and a friend. So since the domain is used more for forums than anything else, I bought rpforum.ca.

Seydon will do a backup of everything before he upgrades the links, so you can be sure that if something go bonkers, nothing is lost. He'll also warn if he does anything that risks breaking the code. Keep an eye on the cbox and discord for updates.

Because of the nature of the game, if one member of a crew does not post when their turn comes in group threads, it stall the RP for the ship as a whole. After a 10 day period, their turn is skipped. 1x1 thread do not apply.

The Gryphon is currently gathering crew on Persephone in Introducing the new crew. You can join in there, the NPC hired gun above will be removed.

We just have to have a talk (which we can do through PM so we don't spam everyone else with 1x1 plotting details) to decide how Cameron and Ambrose deal with this (second?) meeting. Decker insist that every new crew members be examined by his on board "doctor".

In  the top of your RP post you can now use a @ followed with the character name (it will suggest it in a drop down menu when you start typing it) and under "Profile" of the character, you will see that there is a "Mention" which should lead you to where your character is mentioned.

Because I have full control over the code behind SMF, I can add bbcodes directly into the file. Because some of us are used to use colors in dialogue, I've made it easy to remember which color is used by which character by making a personalized bbcode for each character.

For example, writing Chloe, I use "[chloe]What a gorram time saver![/chloe]" and it gives: "What a gorram time saver!"

The only requirements are:
  • Easily readable on the black background
  • Not the same color as someone else

It's just basically putting the name of your character between tags, rather than using [color=colorname] and [/color]

I'm forgetful, prone to typos and dyslexia, and I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to having my one character always use the same color.

Typing [dalila] and [/dalila] when Dalila speaks is easy to remember, there are less chances to make a typo there than in [color=cornflowerblue] and if I get sick of that color, I can go in the file, change the value of the color, and it changes it everywhere that I used the tag.

It's just me being lazy and offering you all to be lazy with me.  ;)

Oh, this looks good. For anything. The issue I have with it though is animated messes with my focus. I cant concentrate if the characters dont even look realistic or close to it. So if i see it animated as a banner or avatar, I just cant focus on my characters to make a good post out of it.

You're the boss though. I just prefer if we dont put anything animated...much. Picture looks cool though.  8)

If I make a banner of it, you won't have to use it in a RP setting. It would just replace the top banner.

What I could do, however, is a second skin. Given the colors, I could make it a light one, without any glaring colors, so that I don't give myself a headache just working on it. :P
